MOTIVATION

I'm a professional photographer and I designed this to support tethered shooting with the Canon R5 in a studio situation. I had a lot of issues with the cable coming loose or damaging my USB cables because of the tight wrapping required by the OEM cable protector. I created this for my own use, but since it took a lot of effort I thought I'd offer it for sale to the community. The images are for reference and the listing does not include the pictured camera or cable.

OVERVIEW

This cable guard is for use on the Canon R5 or R5c. It is 3d printed in high quality PET-G plastic and will protect your camera's USB-C and HDMI ports and keep your cables from coming loose. This tethering solution replaces the OEM one and does not require looping the cables which can damage them. The cable clamp is held in place with a set screw and it's strong enough that I can lift the camera by the cable. This cable protector will fit most USB and HDMI cables. I've also created a version that specifically fits snuggly to the tether tools USB-c cable and it is a very tight fit. The tolerances on this are very tight to prevent cable movement in the socket. I will ship out both style of tether blocks. I'll include two styles of set screw: one is low profile but requires an 11mm hex socket to tighten and the other is a larger knurled knob that can be tightened by hand. The hex head screw allows for greater rear panel LCD articulation while the knurled knob style is easier to tighten with just fingers. A screw to hold the tether block is also included or you can use the screw that came with your camera, they will both fit.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

• 1x tether block that will fit snugly to a tether tools USB-c cable

• 1x tether block that is slightly larger and will fit most USB-c cables including the one that ships with the camera

• 2x set screws with a hex head

• 2x set screws with a knurled head for finger tightening

• 1x main screw that screws into the camera body (the OEM screw that comes with the camera also works fine)
